Francesco Marinucci 

About

Francesco Marinucci is a Global Health and Laboratory Medicine professional with over 22 years of experience at the international level in strategy development, market access, commercial execution, public policy, and implementation of cross-function projects in emerging markets and donor-funded countries. His work focuses on addressing the barriers that hamper access to the proper diagnostic solution in the right place at the right moment.   

He is the Director of Market Access and Funding at Abbott’s Molecular Diagnostics division. His focus is on strategy and business development related to access to quality molecular diagnostic solutions for multiple infectious diseases in emerging markets.  

He previously worked at FIND as Head of the HIV and Viral Hepatitis programme, leading the development and evaluation of novel point-of-care diagnostics for viral hepatitis C. He has extensive experience in determining priorities for technology launch and integration into the existing service delivery models, comprising the design and implementation of pilot projects supporting evidence generation for policy development.   

Francesco led the Global Laboratory Programme at the Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, from 2008 to 2012. During his tenure, he and his team introduced novel diagnostics technologies for HIV screening and monitoring in 229 laboratories across eight African countries. He is still affiliate at the University of Maryland as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.    

Francesco holds a MSc in Chemistry, a PhD in Public Health, and an Executive MBA.
